For Homeowners / Existing Homes

Already moved in?
We can still
wire it right.

Most existing homes were wired for the internet of 2008 — one Cat5 to a desk, a router on the floor, and a stack of mesh pucks doing the rest. We retrofit existing homes for serious networking: fished-through-wall Cat6A runs, ceiling-mounted PoE access points with wired backhaul, PoE security cameras, and a real equipment rack — with minimal drywall damage and clean patch-and-paint when wall access is genuinely required.

The Problem

Mesh pucks aren't a network. They're a workaround.

Your home was wired for the internet of fifteen years ago. Coax to the family room, maybe a single Cat5 to a desk, a Wi-Fi mesh kit picking up the slack. Then you added a 4K stream, three cameras, a home office, smart shades, and a teenager — and now the dead zones, buffering, and “have you tried unplugging it?” calls have moved in permanently.

We come in after the fact. We find pathways through attics, basements, soffits, and chases that don't require ripping the house apart. Where wall access genuinely needs a hole, we cut clean, terminate properly, and patch behind us — or hand the wall off to your painter ready to finish.

What We Retrofit

Closed walls, open
possibilities.

01

On-Site Survey & Network Audit

We walk the house, scan Wi-Fi signal, map dead zones, photograph the existing rack or closet, and document every device on the network. About sixty minutes. You leave with a written scope and a fixed quote — no guesswork, no upsell pressure.

02

Wired Backhaul Retrofit

Cat6A fished from your equipment closet to ceiling AP locations using attic, basement, soffit, and chase pathways. Wired backhaul turns a struggling mesh into full-speed Wi-Fi without rewiring the whole house.

03

Mesh-to-AP Upgrade

Replace consumer mesh pucks with ceiling-mounted PoE access points placed for actual coverage of your floor plan. Same Wi-Fi name, no dead zones, no nightly resets, no vendor cloud lock-in.

04

Equipment Rack & Cleanup

Consolidate the rat's nest in the closet — or the router-and-modem stack on the floor — into a real rack: patch panel, managed switch, UPS, router/firewall. Labeled, ventilated, serviceable. Business-grade replaces consumer-grade.

05

PoE Camera Retrofit

Add wired security cameras to existing soffits, eaves, and entries with Cat6A fished from your equipment rack. No batteries, no Wi-Fi, no cloud subscription. Local NVR storage and remote viewing on your terms.

06

New Drops Where You Need Them

Home office desk, media room, game room, basement gym, garage workshop — we add Cat6A drops to the rooms you actually use, terminated to a flush wall plate and home-run back to the rack.

07

Cat6A Rough-In for Future Devices

Need a cable pulled to a TV wall, a doorbell location, a thermostat, or a future smart-home controller? We fish Cat6A and terminate to a flush plate. Your installer or electrician handles the device — we handle the wire that makes it work.

08

Business-Grade Remote Support

When something breaks, we already know. Proactive monitoring on your network, firmware updates handled remotely, and a real human who answers the phone. The same support model we run for our commercial clients — sized for a household.

How It Works

Survey first. Then a real plan.

We don't quote retrofits over the phone. Every existing home is different — pathways, materials, what's already in the walls. The site survey is how we get to a fixed price you can actually trust.

01

On-Site Survey

We walk the house, scan signal, map dead zones, photograph the rack or closet, and identify pathways. About sixty minutes.

02

Written Scope & Quote

Documented findings, recommended scope, photo references, and a fixed price. You decide what to do — there's no upsell pressure.

03

Minimal-Disruption Install

Pull through attics, basements, soffits, and chases first. Wall access cut clean and patched behind us. Furniture moved, drop cloths down.

04

Tested & Documented

Every run tested, equipment configured, labeled patch panel, and an as-built drawing. Plus the option to roll into ongoing support.

Business-Grade, At Home

The same support model
we run for commercial clients

Your home has more devices than most small offices did a decade ago. It deserves the same operational rigor — not a bin of warranties and a YouTube tutorial.

  • Proactive monitoring on the network, switches, and APs
  • Remote firmware and config updates — no truck roll for what we can fix from a laptop
  • Backed-up equipment configurations so a hardware swap is hours, not days
  • Documented network — every drop labeled, every device on a diagram
  • A real phone number, with real humans, during business hours

Building New or Remodeling?

Open walls are a different game

New construction and major remodels with studs exposed run through our builder track — we coordinate directly with your GC and electrician, work from architectural drawings, and pull a lot more cable for a lot less labor. Different scope, different process, different page.

FAQ

Common Questions

How much wall damage are we talking?+
Minimal in most homes. We use existing pathways first — attics, basements, soffits, plumbing chases, behind baseboards. When wall access is genuinely required, we cut clean rectangles, fish the cable, and patch behind us. We don't disappear leaving a separate contractor for you to schedule.
Will this disrupt my Wi-Fi for days?+
No. We pull cable while your existing network keeps running. The cutover to the new equipment happens at the end of the install — usually under an hour. The upgraded network is live before we leave the property.
Do you work in homes you didn't originally wire?+
Almost all of our residential work is exactly that. We don't care who pulled the original cable or installed the existing gear. We care about giving you a network that works now and won't generate weekly support tickets.
Why not just buy a better mesh kit?+
Because mesh shares one radio between your devices and itself. Every hop halves the throughput. Wired backhaul plus ceiling-mounted PoE access points is the actual answer, and retrofitting it is far cheaper than most homeowners think — usually a one-day job in homes with attic or basement access.
Why no Wi-Fi security cameras?+
Wi-Fi cameras depend on signal strength, share airtime with your other devices, fail when the network burps, and often phone home to a vendor cloud you don't control. PoE cameras get power and data over a single Cat6A run — bulletproof, local, and recordable on your hardware.
What is "business-grade" support and why does my house need it?+
Modern homes have more connected devices than most small offices did ten years ago — and more dependencies on them. Business-grade support means proactive monitoring, managed switches and APs we can update remotely, real backups for your equipment configuration, and a phone number that gets answered. Not a teenager rebooting your router.
Do you install TVs, shades, thermostats, or whole-home audio?+
No. Our residential scope is the network and PoE security cameras — that's it. We'll happily pull Cat6A to a TV wall, a thermostat location, a smart-shade controller, or a doorbell, but the device install and programming go to your AV integrator, electrician, or smart-home installer. We don't pre-wire whole-home audio at all.
Do you handle phone systems?+
Not for residential. Phone systems are part of our commercial scope. Residential focuses on data, Wi-Fi, and PoE security cameras — the network that everything else in the house relies on.
I'm building new or doing a major remodel — is this the right page?+
No — that's our builder page. Open walls change everything: we pull more cable for less labor, coordinate directly with your GC and electrician, and design the system from architectural drawings. If your project has studs exposed at any phase, start there.
Where do you work?+
Greater Boston and across New England. We're headquartered in Burlington, MA. Site surveys are scheduled to your availability.
